Years ago, a gentleman who was seated next to me on an airplane struck up a conversation. He asked about my work, and when I told him what I do, he said “so you’re in the business of problems.” I remember that comment because it surprised me. I never thought of it that way, it’s actually quite the opposite. I’m in the business of solutions – but it’s more than that. It’s the business of transformation, personal growth, healing, change, courage and resiliency. It’s deeply fulfilling work and I feel fortunate to be a part of such a meaningful process. The “problem” is simply an entry point.
Sometimes we are too close to our own lives to see clearly, or we get stuck in repeating patterns and knee-jerk reactions. Sometimes fear and limiting beliefs about ourselves and others get in the way of living the life we want to live. It is a sign of strength to recognize this, and to seek an outside perspective, a guide for the journey.
I offer counseling services online and in the southeastern Pennsylvania area.
